Operation against the “Peace Flotilla” to Gaza
I am deeply shocked by the tragic consequences of the Israeli military operation against “the Peace Flotilla to Gaza”. We do not understand the death toll, still provisional, of such an operation against a humanitarian initiative which was known since several days.
Nothing could justify the use of such violence, which we condemn.
In these tragic circumstances, I extend my condolences to the families and relatives of the
victims so cruelly affected.
All light must be shed on the circumstances of this tragedy and we call for a thorough
investigation to be conducted without delay.
We are standing alongside the French nationals who were participating in this operation.
These events remind us that the current situation in Gaza is not sustainable and requires an
urgent political response. We will take all necessary steps to prevent that this tragedy lead to further escalations of violence.
